Zhao Named as Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor

Xinyu Zhao, Ph.D., Professor of Neuroscience, was awarded the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship. This achievement recognizes distinguished scholarship and exemplary efforts in teaching and service.

Zhao serves as the Jenni and Kyle Professor in Novel Neurodevelopmental Diseases within the Waisman Center. Her lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate brain development with the goal of applying this knowledge in the treatment of brain disorders. Zhao currently mentors 10 undergraduate students, 5 interns, 5 graduate students, 1 post-doc, and 4 scientists. To date, her lab has published over 100 papers.
